I have decided to look at using the EA in a different way. I am looking to let the EA run randomly because I am not sure from a mathematical perspective that we can truly gain a better than 50% success rate on many long term systems.

Remember using things like 2 moving averages wil give you about 38% success rate over many, many trades - which is fine for some traders with good MM discipline etc, and who can make a nice profit trading a system with a less then 1:1 success rate - but BLOODY bad when you are using a less than 1:1 success rate system and Dans EA with a failure rate of 1 time every 49 trades!! A less than 1:1 success rate entry system is going to shorten the odds even further and a blowout becomes a very real danger.

So having stated this, I have decided to accept the randomness of the market and that I am possibly not able to do better than 50/50 entry over the long term - and so I went about developing a progression that gives the maximum return I could get for the biggest odds against a loss - assuming I enter the market randomly.

One side note here - the "random walk" theory would work 100% in a real market but we are at the mercy of forex brokers who just can't keep there greedy hands off our money. They play all there tricks to catch us out - and the main one that will stuff up all my nice mathematical odd in an instant is the spread widening around news releases. So to counter this I will take a leaf out of Dans approach and look to plan which news events I need to avoid and which days not to allow the EA to run randomly. Today for example is a holiday in the US so I won't start my EA until tomorrow (Tuesday). Also I will plan to be available 30 minutes before each of the 3 to 5 major news items per week that may cause the broker to widen the spread. I will simply shut down the EA and reactivate after the spread has returned to normal.

So now to discuss the actual progression that I will be using.

Firstly I spent a few hours mucking around with the progression numbers and attempting to increase the progression level out to say 40 or 50, but I found this would not provide a decent profit for all the effort. So I started to manipulate the Take Profit. This allowed me to extend the progression levels and get a decent profit. however when I ran the risk model against these progressions they did ok for risk but I found I could GREATLY decrease the risk by manipulating the Stop Loss.

So when I changed the SL to say 13 and the TP to 35 and run a progression to 24 (this level was generally where the lots started to ramp up dramatically- I now understand why you settled for a progression around 24 Dan), I get an average profit of just $53.25, but because I trade this (at least) 2 times per day on the Euro/USD (and I think it will average out at ~2.2 times per day) I can make an ROI of 75% (assuming my EA randomly trades twice per day, 5 days per week, for 50 weeks of the year). I don't have to sit around looking for my entry setup - I just "randomly" start the EA at the first open of the London market. The Euro news very rarely causes the brokers to widen spreads - so I just have to watch out for US news that might do this (and as I mentioned I will pre-plan which events I need to shut it down for at the beginning of the week).

Now my failure rate with this progression is 1 failure per 8561 trades - assuming I trade randomly (which I am 100% confident of being able to.
All I have to do is avoid letting the EA run through major news events - this is no problem since I can be available to shut it off for these always.

So since I am looking to get about 500 trades per year completed (250 days * 2 trades per day average) I have a statistical chance of getting a blowout once every 17 years!!!! Gambler your progression (if you entered randomly once per day - which I know you're not....) would be a blowout once every ~1.2 years.

Insgesamt also 3 völlig unterschiedliche Systeme.
