Full-page ad in today's New York Times denounces Kimberly-Clark
Today Greenpeace and the Natural Resources Defense Council ran a full-page ad in the New York Times criticizing Kimberly-Clark and Kleenex for blowing away Canadas Boreal forest. Pick up a copy of the New York Times and look for the ad on page A13, or check it out online at kleercut.net/en/nytimesad
The ad is part of an escalation of our international campaign and follows on the heels of November 3rd's huge International Day of Action to Save the Boreal Forest.
Boreal Day of Action a Success!
Forest defenders across Canada and the United States responded to the day of action with incredible enthusiasm and creativity: you launched school campaigns, made elaborate costumes, adopted grocery stores, created artistic displays, dropped banners, did street theatre, wrote letters, painted pictures, put up posters, and more.
We've started posting photos from the many activities online --Â check them out at kleercut.net/en/image/tid/54
Â
If you have any photos or stories from November 3rd, we want to see them! please send them to us at canada@kleercut.net or usa@kleercut.net and we'll add them to the gallery.
In addition to the over 350 events on the ground (200 of which focused on Kimberly-Clark specifically), thousands of cyberactivists from all around the world made calls to Ken Strassner (KC's VP Environment) on his direct line; sent emails to Cheryl Perkins (his boss); called the company's customer service line to complain; and filled in KC's online customer feedback form that we hacked to suit our purposes. If you haven't called or emailed yet, go to kleercut.net/en/takeaction and add your voice now.
Pressure's building
With hundreds of activities, thousands of calls and emails, and one great big ad, we're really upping the pressure on Kimberly-Clark to improve its practices and stop destroying the Boreal.
Keep it up!
