ich möchte gern noch einmal die Pivots in die Diskussion einbringen. Die funktionieren heute im EURUSD ja geradezu vorbildlich zwischen PP und R1. Bin deshalb jetzt auch bei 2417 long. Hoffentlich geht es gut.

German Trade Surplus decreased to 14.1Bln in July, very much inline with expectations, it still managed to lift EURUSD to an intra-day high of 1.2440.

The Bank of England held their monthly rate meeting, we were not surprised to hear them leave rate unchanged at 4.5%, it was only 1h later that Cable surged to the intra-day high of 1.8435.

Initial Jobless claims fell less then expected to 319k from 320. New claims from Louisiana are not fully accounted for and a upwards revision of this data is likely next week.

US Consumer Credit rose 4.4Bln only in July, this is a lot lower than the 14.5Bln$ in June or the forecasted 10Bln, main reason was a large fall in outstanding Credit Card debt.

Mr Yellen from the SanFrancisco FED yesterday hit in the same curb Moskow did the day before: Rising Energy prices will drive core inflation, the FED must be committed to price stability, hence further rate hikes are likely. He even added that he expected a steepened yield curve going forward, pointing to more rate hikes beyond the 4% target are set for the end of the year.


Todays Key Issues:


French Industrial Production for July was released this morning, it fell 0.9% which is weaker than expected and stopped the EURUSD from breaking 1.2440 early on today.
Swiss Q2 GDP rose to 1.1%, much stronger than the expect 0.6% growth, EURCHF fell back to 1.5410 support after the announcement.

At 12:30 US Import and Export Prices Index are published, while export prices are expected to fall or remain put, import prices should show a rise of about 1.3%.


The Risk Today:
Ranges are getting tighter and the next move could dictate the direction for next week. GBPUSD resistance 1.8410/20 is well pronounced, while it holds we still look for a deeper correction to 1.8240 minimum, on the other hand there is now more space to trade beyond 1.85 if the pair closes high tonight (above 1.8430).

4h EURUSD chart: We see this weeks small trading ranges, Open/close levels were held inside 1.2390 to 1.2430 this week. We can also see that a 50% correction of the prior week strong rise has been made, this weeks falling resistance is now at 1.2470 and a weekly close above this leaves the pair very bullish to go for 1.2660 next week, on the other side a close below 1.2430 should continue to add pressure and allow the Dollar to recover to 1.2335 likely, 1.2270 possible.

Öhm, ich hab nicht davon gesprochen, dass man schon drin sein muss, wenn man bullish ist. Die letzten Tage haben ja gezeigt, dass in der Region um 45 ein ganz schönes Gezeter gemacht wird. Und wie man jetzt sieht, gehts es erstmal ordentlich nach Süden, wenn alle merken, weiter geht's nicht mehr.
Nachhaltig? Limit 10 Pips über Hoch und dann beten

@ KV Mann: Was heisst da Schönheitsschlaf? Der Kerl ist noch jung, WIR müssten da schon eher dieses Mittel in Anspruch nehmen, aber mein frühes Aufstehen ist wohl schon senilitätisbedingte Bettflucht.
